Press Releases
Washington D.C. – Today, Rep.
Today, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) announced his nominations to the United States Service Academies. Nominees were selected in a competitive process in which many highly qualified 20th Congressional District students applied for consideration.
“Governor Gavin Newsom’s rebranding tour ignores the fact that it’s his own policies that have damaged and harmed our region. Newsom has actively restricted needed energy production, hurt the construction of energy pipelines and refinery infrastructure, prevented the flow of vital water supplies and hindered the construction of water storage infrastructure, and crushed our supply chain with mandates on trucking, rail and warehousing. Small businesses are struggling with mounting burdens of taxes, fees and regulations that the Newsom Administration continues to pile on.
“Governor Newsom’s current media tour is nothing more than events to promote and rebrand himself. Newsom continues to ignore the consequences of his own policies in the Central Valley when he limits domestic energy production that causes energy costs to rise, constricts our water supply to our farmers with regulations and refuses to invest in water storage, harms the supply chain by crushing needed rail, truck and warehouse operations, hinders the construction of new highway capacity, and burdens our businesses and farms with taxes and red tape.

“Californians continue to express serious concerns with the direction of the state and instead of collaborating with the incoming Trump Administration to help advance the needs of our state, this special session further shows that the Newsom Administration only cares about political gimmicks. Californians rejected Governor Newsom’s agenda and Americans rejected VP Harris’s policies modeled after Governor Newsom this week, but he apparently didn’t get the message.
Yesterday, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) joined the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Franklin Parker, on a tour of NAWS China Lake and the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital (RRH). The visit also included a roundtable with Assistant Secretary Parker, leaders from NAWS China Lake, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development, Lillian Salerno, to discuss long-term solutions in healthcare for the area.
Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) calls out the California Coastal Commission’s recent decision to prevent additional SpaceX rocket launches in California, apparently due to political views held by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. In a letter sent to the Commission, Rep. Fong discusses its potential use of political bias to punish a specific company. Rep. Fong also defends his belief that government decisions affecting the future of the commercial space industry should be made fairly and without regard to political views, stating these actions will halt vital growth in America’s space innovation.

Last weekend, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) hosted a U.S. Service Academy Forum in Clovis. The forum was held on Saturday and encouraged students from 7th to 12th grade to attend to learn more about receiving a Congressional nomination and the application process.
