Today, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) introduced the Making Advancements in Commercial Hypersonics (MACH) Act with Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA-15). This legislation authorizes the establishment of the MACH Program at NASA, which allows NASA to support scientific experiments through high-speed flights with commercial hypersonics companies.

Today, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) introduced the bipartisan ACERO Act with Rep. Jennifer McClellan (VA-04). This legislation authorizes NASA’s Advanced Capabilities for Emergency Response Operations (ACERO) project, which is focused on using drones to fight wildfires, including in low-visibility conditions where manned aircraft cannot be used.

Sisk Dam Raise and Reservoir Expansion Project and the Sites Reservoir Project received federal funding for enhanced storage capacity, which will provide greater reliability to California’s water supply. Yesterday, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) reintroduced the bipartisan Clergy Act with Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04). This bill would enable pastors and other clergy members—many of whom opted out of Social Security in their youth—to opt back into Social Security by establishing a one-time re-enrollment period.

Our region continues to lead the way for America to explore, test, and advance new flight technologies – from Chuck Yeager’s test flight breaking the sound barrier almost 80 years ago to NASA’s X-59 quiet supersonic flight engine testing last month.
