Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) calls out the California Coastal Commission’s recent decision to prevent additional SpaceX rocket launches in California, apparently due to political views held by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. In a letter sent to the Commission, Rep. Fong discusses its potential use of political bias to punish a specific company. Rep. Fong also defends his belief that government decisions affecting the future of the commercial space industry should be made fairly and without regard to political views, stating these actions will halt vital growth in America’s space innovation.

Last weekend, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) hosted a U.S. Service Academy Forum in Clovis. The forum was held on Saturday and encouraged students from 7th to 12th grade to attend to learn more about receiving a Congressional nomination and the application process.

This week, staff members from the office of Rep. Vince Fong will be in Tulare, Ridgecrest, and Kern River Valley to host mobile office hours. The staff can help you with issues with federal agencies or general questions you may have with casework. The mobile office hours in Tulare will be held on Monday, October 7 from 10am-11:30am at the Tulare Chamber of Commerce (220 E Tulare Ave). The mobile office hours in Ridgecrest will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 10am-11:30am at the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce (128 E California Ave).

Washington, D.C. – Working in collaboration with the Department of Defense, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) announces federal funding from the Pentagon to support Ridgecrest Regional Hospital (RRH). RRH has experienced some financial challenges after the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a loss in necessary health services at the hospital affecting patient care access.  The Department of the Navy will make available funds from its Emergency and Extraordinary Expense funds to help keep critical services available at RRH.

Today, Rep. Vince Fong (CA-20) joined 68 members of Congress to urge the Biden-Harris Administration to prevent a strike at the East Coast and Gulf Coast ports.  

 

“We must act take immediate action to protect our nation’s supply chain,” said Rep. Vince Fong. “This looming strike threatens our economy with shortages in needed goods, parts, and supplies which will lead to higher inflation.”
