Fong Celebrates 2026 Service Academy Nominees

BAKERSFIELD, CA — On Memorial Day, Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) held a meet-and-greet with this years’ service academy nominees from California’s 20th Congressional District, each of whom accepted appointments to one of the United States service academies. Nominees were selected after applying earlier this academic year, through a competitive process that included many applicants committed to academic excellence, leadership, and service.
“It was a tremendous honor to meet and nominate these outstanding local students to our nation’s service academies,” said Congressman Fong. “Their dedication, discipline, and commitment to service reflect the very best of our community. As they pursue careers serving our country, these five students will represent our region with distinction. Their courage and willingness to serve are a testament to their character, their families, and the values that make our community proud.”
Each candidate was interviewed by Congressman Fong’s Service Academy Interview Committee, which evaluated applicants on academics, leadership, character, and commitment to service before submitting recommendations to Congressman Fong.
