Congressman Fong Applauds Bureau of Land Management for effort to reopen oil and gas leasing in Central California

CENTRAL VALLEY, Calif. – Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) is applauding the Bureau of Land Management for their effort to reopen oil and gas leasing in central California.
“My district in California’s Central Valley is the energy capital of California — producing 70% of our state’s oil and natural gas,” said Congressman Fong (CA-20). “With my advocacy, this important and needed move by the Bureau of Land Management is a strong step toward restoring California’s oil production, lowering costs for families, reducing our reliance on foreign sources of energy by unleashing American energy independence, and protecting good-paying jobs.”
On Background
Federal land managers from the Bureau of Land Management have initiated a 30-day public comment period to revise regulations and potentially reopen oil and gas leasing on public lands across central California. This proposal is in alignment with President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14154 “Unleashing American Energy.” Learn more here.
