Congressman Fong Recognizes Hmong Americans in the Congressional Record

May 14, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20) recognized the enduring contributions of Hmong Americans in the Congressional Record. Please see his statement below:

“Hmong American Day commemorates May 14, 1975, when the first Hmong refugees arrived in the United States following their courageous service alongside U.S. forces during the Vietnam War,” said Congressman Fong. “In the years since, many Hmong Americans have settled across the country, including in California’s Central Valley, where they rebuilt their lives with determination and hope. Today, communities like Clovis and Fresno are home to some of the largest and most vibrant Hmong populations in the nation. These families have enriched the fabric of our region as educators, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, public servants, and community leaders. I commend the County of Fresno, the City of Clovis, and other local governments for formally recognizing Hmong American Day and honoring the history, culture, and contributions of the Hmong people.”
