Congressman Fong Helps Secure Vital Funding for State Route 99 Tulare Six-Lane Widening and Paige Avenue Interchange Improvement Project

Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20), in partnership with state and community leaders, secured critical funding for the State Route 99 Tulare Six-Lane Widening and Paige Avenue Interchange Improvement Project. Thanks to his advocacy, the U.S. Department of Transportation unlocked $98.04 million in federal Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) funding and the California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved $62.67 million in competitive funding from the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program to advance this transformative development.

“State Route 99 is the lifeline of Tulare County and the entire Central Valley,” said Congressman Vince Fong (CA-20). “This vital corridor moves goods, connects communities, and drives our regional economy. I’m proud to have helped champion this critical investment through a strong partnership with the Tulare County Association of Governments, the California Transportation Commission, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. This important project will improve safety, expand freight capacity, and strengthen California’s economy.”
The project will expand State Route 99 by adding two lanes from Prosperity Avenue to Avenue 200 and will fully reconstruct the Paige Avenue Interchange, restoring multi-modal connectivity under State Route 99. This effort is also made possible thanks to $11.3 million in matching funds from Tulare County’s Measure R local transportation sales tax. With a total construction cost of $172 million, work is set to begin in fiscal year 2026-2027.
"The Tulare County Association of Governments wishes to thank Congressman Fong for his strong support of completing the 99 corridor. We are especially thankful for his advocacy to help Tulare County get awarded $62 million from the California Transportation Commission," said Rudy Mendoza, Tulare County Association of Governments Chair.
